Hello!
I’m Sam – an experienced and speedy (or so I’ve been told!) factual TV offline editor based in London.
I’ve worked on everything from high octane prime-time Channel 4 fact ent, through to warm and fuzzy animal ob docs; historical BBC One royal reflections, to intense blue light emergency response.
I have a keen eye for character and actuality led storytelling; hunting for those raw nuggets of gold in the rushes, and bringing them to life by sculpting them into compelling narratives with highs, lows, heart and humour.
My home setup includes full fibre internet for easy remote editing, and I can also work pretty much anywhere within the M25 for any in-suite work that needs doing.
Skills.
01. NARRATIVE.
I’m quick at identifying strong stories and character arcs in the rushes, pinpointing the best captured moments needed to tell them, and weaving together the images, sounds and emotions in the just the right order to keep viewers glued to their screens.
02. MUSIC.
You’ll never hear boring elevator music tinkling along in the background of my cuts; instead I cut it to rise, fall and punctuate the action, push narrative beats and eke out emotional moments. I have a good working knowledge of many music libraries: in particular Cavendish, The Nerve and Audio Networks.
03. INTERPERSONAL.
I try to bring positivity to any production, take a collaborative approach to my work, and receive notes with a ‘can do’ attitude. I have been asked back to many shows for multiple seasons and worked with several execs for coming up to a decade.
